An enormo-thanks to all the volunteers, filmmakers and those who checked out all the flicks. A deliciously good time was had by all on a rainy SF weekend.
We'll post submission guidelines for the '04 hi/lo film festival on this site this summer, once we've hibernated, recuperated and readied ourselves to do this thing all over again. You can also check back here for info on hi/lo screenings in NYC and beyond as those dates are confirmed.
Wanna see a hi/lo film again? Contact the filmmakers to find out how to get vhs or dvd copies of
films that showed at this year's festival. Most filmmakers' emails accompany their Q&A here.
Now, for those who missed it and those waxing nostalgic the fest took place:
April 11,12 & 13
San Francisco Art Institute
800 Chestnut St. @ Jones (North Beach)
San Francisco, USA
Props from the press:
San Francisco Bay Guardian
SF Weekly
San Francisco Chronicle
SF Gate
We showed 40 films in 4 programs:
Shorts Program I
Shorts Program II
Shorts Program III
Feature Program: Tributary
What sort of directors, you may ask, does the hi/lo showcase? The hella finest in the world.
They make crepes, drive tour buses, dis The President, read Barthelme, eat Toblerone, love Godard,
Wong Kar Wai, and Mark Rothko, and make kick-ass documentaries about old people who play bingo.
Get to know them better here.
