Torrevieja
Situated about 50km south west of Alicante and around 35km from Alicante airport, Torrevieja is accessed via the N332 coast road. Torrevieja is famous for its huge salt lakes which cover more than 2000 hectares and produce in excess of half a million tons of salt per year. Torrevieja dates from the early 18th century and was originally a fishing village built around a watchtower called the "Old Tower" or la Torre Vieja from which the town took its name. |
At one time Torrevieja was home to the largest fleet of ships in the Mediterranean and still has one of the best yacht clubs with berths for 1,500 boats.
Torrevieja has first class sporting facilities including clubs, water sports, athletics track, tennis courts, a flying club and a variety of other sports. Of course, no Spanish town would be complete without a bull ring - still popular with the Spanish. Torrevieja also boasts a water park, fairground, theatre and several cinemas.

Santa Pola
Santa Pola has been a lively fishing resort since Roman times. With miles of beautiful sandy beaches Santa Pola is the gateway to Tabarca Island, formally a pirates' stronghold but now a marine reserve.
Pola Park is a favourite attraction for children and the young at heart and comes complete with bumper cars, roller coasters and all manner of stomach churning rides. |
