Who is Lewis? -- Christopher Schilz, Bochum, Germany - 4 min, Flash animation - Miller is a bunny, Pete is a dog and Rex is a pig (naturally), so who is Lewis? And, for all his troubles, bad choices, and reptilian skin, isn't he really just one of us?

Backseat Bingo - Liz Blazer, Glendale - - 6 min, animation - This illustrated documentary throws the spotlight on an array of aging horn dogs grappling with the crisis of mortality.

Westbound/Eastbound - Rohan Bader, Markham, Canada - 6 min, 6mm - this is what happens when you set a dance brigade loose on public transit. One only wishes the commute on MUNI were half this entertaining.

Farmer Brown - Charlie Cline, Pittsburgh - 4 min, 8mm - a hilo filmmaker returns with his short story about life in the meadow inhabited by Farmer Brown and, oh yeah, a couple extra-terrestrials too.

How I Know You - Matthew Timms, Brooklyn - 8min, 16 - we've all been there: seeing a vaguely familiar person headed in our direction but unable to recall where we know them from all we can do is rack our brain and hope for the best.

Knifin' Around - Ian Densford, Providence - 4 min, Flash Animation - whether you're stuck in a bear trap or can't stop smoking this whimsical line-art hero and his illustrated knife has all the answers.

Bartholomew's Song - Allison Welch, Lowell Frank and Destin Cretton, San Diego - 11min, Super 16 - in a low-rent dystopia life has been reduced to the mindless stamping out of luxury items of the most useless sort. But in the spirit of Brazil and a Brave New World one automaton begins to sing his own song to heart-breaking, if predictable, effect.

The Shins "Pink Bullets" - Adam Bizanski, Haifa, Israel - 4 min, dv - Adam lives in Israel. The Shins are from Albuquerque. The origami cows who star in this inventive music video are from Adam's imagination by way of The Shins musical inspiration. Put it all together and you've got a playful love story to tap your feet to.

Recliner Dance - Tom Gingell, San Diego - 2 min, DV - like popping the bubbles in bubble-wrap, like goofing around with the stuff you'll never buy at the Sharper Image store, this quick homage will gratify anyone whose ever sat in a La-Z-Boy recliner.

Under The Roller Coaster - Lila Place, Brookline - 16min, 8mm, 16mm, mini-dv - documentaries are successful because of a compelling character and the brassy, beer-swilling, chain smoking woman at the center of this one is as riveting as they come. The fact that she lived most of her life in a house underneath a Coney Island rollercoaster is just gravy.

Spam Letter + Google Image Search = Video Entertainment - Andre Silva, Iowa City - 3min, dv - the not so cryptic title says it all.

Honeycut: "Tough Kid" - Arno Salters, Berkeley - 2min, dv - cardboard cityscapes and really dizzy rockers go for a spin in this revolutionary music video.

A Bad Hair Day - Meesoo Lee, Vancouver - 7 min, mini-DV - echoing the Fresh Prince's pronouncement that parents just don't understand, a filmmaker visits his parents in Seoul for a week and fights a perennial battle pitting his own scruffy-doo against his father's perm.
